African Stars arrived at the Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek on Wednesday , as they returned from Morocco where they played their crucial Confederation Cup match against Raja Casablanca. Holding a 13th position on the NPL table and being out of the CAF tournament means that African Stars have a lot on their plate, as they need to regroup and refocus all their energy to improve their standing. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday , head coach Bobby Samaria wasn’t too pleased with the delay tactics their Moroccan opponents were causing the team but still showed himself hopeful to improve in future matches. “When we went there, we already knew that they will do those tactics. As a results we prepare our players mentally. They were strong going into the match. It’s a physical game and also a mind game. If you are mentally prepared the sky is the limit” Samaria said. Despite a 1-0 loss to Raja Casablanca, team captain Ronald Katjijere was impressed with the team’s performance as this match taught them a thing or two about how professional football is played in different parts of the African continent. He hopes the team remains motivated for upcoming games. “I hope the boys don’t get complacent, because of what they have done in Africa. I think we played two giant of Africa, Orlando Pirates and from the Namibian perspectives I think we did well” Katjijere said. African Stars are still highly motivated as they now need to play catch up when they head to Karasburg on Saturday for a match against Young Brazilians in what promises to be a tough encounter as they only have two days to rest.
