First-ever Julius Indongo boxing show set for 7th September

WIndhoek-The first-ever Julius "Blue Machine" Indongo Boxing Show is set to take place next weekend in Windhoek. The tournament will be held at the Deo Gloria Sentrum in Schlettwein Street, Pionierspark and attract 20 boxers - within the Khomas region - to feature in 10 bouts on the night. The purpose behind launching the tournament in the first place is to grow it in years to come and make it an annual event on the local boxing calendar. As for the start, the maiden tournament will take place in the Khomas Region, with other regions to be included in future. Further plans also indicate that boxers from outside the country will add spice to the event in years to come. “I decided to come up with this because of my love for the sport. I am ploughing back into the sport” Indongo said. Well-known figures in boxing hailed the initiative by Indongo as a move in the right direction and towards the upliftment of boxing on the local shores. “It's a good initiative and I hope it will last for years to come” said Kenneth Muatara, who is the head of Nampol Sport Club. “In the Khomas Region we are very happy with this new development. We want to congratulate Indongo for doing something for the youth of this country” said Jason Naule, chairman of Khomas Boxing Federation. “Me and him will be working together. It's very rare to see a boxer doing this, so I am encouraging him to remain in the sport and achieve more“ said local promoter Imms Moses. Adrian Coetzee, who will be working hand in hand with Indongo on the night, wants the event to be a memorable occasion. “Come one come all, lets pack the hall on the night and support our star boxer in his mission” Coetzee said. In line with the show, there will be an auction of boxing gear that was used by Indongo during his finest moments in the ring when he won the triple world titles in 2016/2017. The funds raised on the night will be utilised for the formation of Indongo Promotions, to be known as Dowally Promotions. It also came to light that Indongo will not be lost to the sport as a boxer, despite all his new roles as he is set to fight before the end of the year.
