I am still the NFA President - Frans Mbidi

Oshakati-Ousted NFA President Frans Mbidi says the NFA Secretariat has been captured and is thus compromising the organisation's operations. The flames refuse to die down at the Soccer House in Windhoek, with neither the Secretary General nor the President willing to end the ongoing power struggles for the benefit of the sport. With only a little over a month before the year comes to an end, unending disputes at the association have been at the centre of attention throughout the year, with no solution visible. In an exclusive interview with NBC sports, Mbidi accused some officials at the NFA secretariat of advancing Rukoro's agenda, which allegedly is to give him a new contract - something Mbidi says, he will not be coerced into. “The general secretariat reports to itself; it doesn't report to the president or the executive. In fact, there is chaos to say the least in the NFA secretariat. We need to sort this out. People are sitting on information that could derail the efforts that some of us are making as executive members to deliver the product to the end user or to the people of this country” Mbidi said. Mbidi also added that Rukoro's refusal to accept that his contract has ended, has made things more tense between the duo, with the Secretary General also refusing to report to him as per the norm. Asked about his recent ousting, Mbidi downplayed its overall effect, citing that procedures were not followed and thus it was unconstitutional. “All in all, if you look at the comment from Fifa and the Sports Commission, as well as the government, you can also see that the constitutional provisions where not adhered to. We cannot even entertain this dismissal thing. So I remain the President of the Namibia Football Association, until such time that a competent body has removed me” Mbidi concluded. The infighting might also stall the much anticipated elective congress, which was slated for December to elect new leaders that will hold the fort at the football house.
