The latest news about the Namibia Premier League which is making headlines in local media for all the wrong reasons has promoted the league's biggest financial backer MTC to request an urgent meeting with the league's leadership on the 25th of this month. In a letter addressed to the League's Chairman Patrick Kauta and the NPL Board of Governors, MTC's Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer Tim Ekandjo writes that the latest developments in the ongoing season are worrying and therefore they need an urgent meeting. MTC, FNB, the NPL Board of Governors and the Executive should then discuss and get clarity on why the NPL CEO and Marketing Officer positions were not filled last year as per agreement. They also demand to hear why the First Division has not kicked off yet - something that might affect promotion and relegation play-offs at the end of the season, as well the suspension and demotion of Young African from the NPL league and the status of Zimbabwean player Simon Tapiwa Musekiwa. Ekandjo explains in the letter that they want to hear from the league about the status of Young Chiefs and their Premiership ambitions in the wake of Young African's relegation and the upcoming Standard Bank Top 8 Cup. In the letter MTC also advise the Board of Governors to prepare diligently for the meeting in order to give sufficient information on all the matters.
