Despite a five- zero loss against the Zimbabwean women's cricket team at the recently held Namib Desert T20 challenge in Walvisbay and facing various other problems, the Namibian women's cricket team has a positive outlook for the future. The Namibian ladies played good cricket at times in the five match competition, but could not manage to get close to a win against the more experienced Zimbabwean side. Most of the current team players last played at the BCA Women's International T20 Tournament held in Botswana in August last year were Namibia won. Those were the first ICC ranked games for all the participants in the tournament. Namibia is currently ranked 26 in the ICC rankings and with the team in the building phase, they are playing with many school-going girls in the team. The problem they thus have is to put together a constant team for the future as most of the girls will be lost to the team after they finish school. ”It is always a difficult thing for us, these girls play cricket while still in school, and loose them after school as thy go to University. It is always difficult, you groom a group of players for a few years to play international cricket, and loose them a few years later” head coach Christopher Coombe said. Coombe said that despite the losses against Zimbabwe, he thinks that the team can preform better, given the opportunity to play more games against international teams. “It is a very young side, we have two or three players that is not under 19, so hopefully we can keep them together, and more we play these games, the better they will get” Coombe said. The ladies' next challenge is in May, when they will be competing in the International Cricket Council T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier to be held in Harare, Zimbabwe
