The directive by the Namibia Football Association to the Namibia Premier League not to relegate teams is yet to be resolved after the league ignored the call up to date. The Namibia Premier League announced at an ealier date that the new upcoming season will start on the 13th of September with only 13 teams instead of 16. Their decision was based on the fact that Orlando Pirates and Civics had been relegated, while Young African was kicked out of the league for wrong doings. That move by the NPL did not go well with the NFA who informed the league that no teams would be relegated and promoted in the upcoming season based on their directive which has the backing of world football governing body-FIFA. With the NPL Board of Governors as the second highest decision making body to hold a meeting on the 11th of September, the NFA has write to the league Chairman that their decision in respect of relegation and promotion for the 2019/2020 season shall abide as per article 7 of the NFA statutes by ensuring its body and officials to observe the directive until such time that it is reviewed or set aside by the Court of Arbitration of Sport. The football Association in the letter strongly condemned any form of ostracism and violation of any NPL members right without due process to partake at the Board of Governors meeting and urge the NPL to recognise the constitutionally entrenched and inalienable rights of the 16 NPL teams to partake in those proceedings. The letter further stated that pending the outcome of the Board of Governors meeting and as a last resort the NFA shall have no option but to invoke article 13.2 read together with article 14 and 15 of its statutes. They expect a respnse within 24 hours after the Board of Governors meeting. The letter to the NPL was also copied to NPL Board of Governors members, 3 First Division Streams, 14 Regions, FIFA Secretary-General, CAF Secretary-General, CEO of FNB and the Acting CEO of MTC.
