Sponsors satisfied with Newspaper Cup Outcome

Katima Mulilo-The main sponsors of The Namibian Newspaper Cup have expressed their satisfaction with the organisaton of the tournament so far, which has been hosted in the Zambezi Region this year. The tournament which is now in its 18th edition has for the first time come to the Zambezi Region, with the host being joined by the rest of the 13 regions for four days of competition in football and netball. For the past 17 years the tournament served only as a platform for football players but this year has seen the introduction of netball too. According to Christof Maletsky of The Namibian Newspaper the first three days have been exciting. Maletsky told NBC Sport that introducing Netball was a stroke of genius from the sponsors. He was also very happy with the standard of play. Over the first three days, football and netball players from the fourteen regions have competed not only for the ultimate prize but there was also rivalry amongst some regions. Head of Nedbank Namibia's Marketing Gernot De Klerk echoed Maletsky's sentiments in terms of the standard of play and added that as sponsors they contend with the organistion. He believes that introducing netball will not only see the players competing but that it will help developing these players into becoming ambassadors for the country on the International level. The four day tournament has become popular among the country's young players who get to showcase their talent.
