Sport rehabilitators, thus, help people suffering from pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system, and assist athletes of all ages to maintain their health and fitness. It is thanks to them that athletes recover from and prevent injury and reduce pain using exercise, movement and manual based therapeutic interventions. The right exercise programme to maintain strength and flexibility can help athletes recover quickly after an accident, for instance, empowering them to resume athletic activities. "If you do not get rehab after an injury, the chances that will you re-injured yourself is big, so after an injury you want get back on the field, without worrying about about an injury" Connoway said. Rehabilitation exercises are an important part of overall recovery, and they help restore strength, range of motion, and endurance. Some of the most common sports injuries include sprains, strains, shin splints and knee injuries. "After an injury, the muscle surrounding the joint, the strength go down and it is crucial to get the joint start moving again. If you don’t get the muscle moving again, it is going stiff and can not go back to normal movement in every day living" she concluded. For all serious injuries, rehabilitation is key to restoring optimal health, which is needed for a thriving career in sports.
