18 deaths reported over weekend

The deaths of 18 people dominated crimes committed countrywide over this weekend. Seven persons were murdered, another seven committed suicide while four died as a result of culpable homicide across the country. Three people were killed around Windhoek, two at Keetmanshoop in the //Karas region and one each at Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi region and at Okatope in the Oshikoto region. Three people took their own lives in Windhoek, two at Ngoma and Kongola in the Zambezi and one at Mondesa in the Erongo region. Single cases of culpable homicide were reported at Katima Mulilo, at Omaruru in Erongo and at Rundu in the Kavango East Region. Nampol's Spokesperson, Kauna Shikwamibi described the loss of 18 lives in three days as too high, saying most murders could have been prevented . The Chief Inspector called on the public to assist the police in curbing incidents of deaths, urging the public to refrain from alcohol abuse and the carrying of dangerous weapons. Three cases of rape, two of attempted murder and one each of armed robbery and concealment of birth were also recorded.
