Ancient sewage system in Omaruru a hindrance to development

The Omaruru Municipality is still struggling with an ancient sewage system which is hampering the development of the town. This was revealed by the town's mayor Vincent Kahua during an interview with nbc News. Kahua said the town’s sewage system no longer functions properly. He says due to the growing population of the town, most residential areas are not yet connected to the main sewage line. Kahua said that the old oxidation pumps are nearly full, therefore, there is a need to build new pumps to ease the pressure on the old ones. He added that the town also plans on building a purification plant so that water can be reused in watering parks, agricultural projects, and sports fields. Underdevelopment of towns chases away potential investors, and Kahua is therefore urging the government to assist with the town's development.
