The National Assembly will start its debate on the Anti-Corruption Amendment Bill on Tuesday. The Bill, tabled by Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila last week, is meant to align the act with the 2014 constitutional amendment. It aims to change the title of the Director and Deputy-Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, to Director-General and Deputy-Director General, respectively. The amendment will also remove the administrative functions from the two positions to make the functions of the Head of the ACC similar to the Director-General of the National Planning Commission and that of the Namibia Central Intelligence Services. These two positions are not responsible for administration functions, but to realize policy objectives. The amendment is supported by the independence of the ACC as an agency of the State as stipulated in the constitution.
