Electricity connection to the eastern town of Gobabis restored

Electricity connection to the eastern town of Gobabis has been restored after two days of a total shutdown at some institutions and surrounding plots as a result of stolen electrical copper wires. Town Mayor Elvire Theron is calling on residents to desist from stealing infrastructure as it places a financial burden on the council. Gobabis Mayor, Elvire Theron says about 35 meters of copper wire were removed by thieves and this has delayed service delivery to some homes and offices. Theron expresses concern, saying that this is not the first such incident this year. Council and the relevant stakeholders, including the security cluster, she says, are working together to guard infrastructure and identify culprits.
