#FISHROT UPDATE | Ricardo Gustavo granted bail

#FISHROT UPDATE | Judge Herman Oosthuizen ordered Ricardo Gustavo to pay N$800 000 or provide assets worth N$500 000, which will be forfeited if he absconds. The High Court also imposed a list of 16 conditions to curb any risk of Gustavo absconding when on bail. These include wearing a tracking device on his body, reporting to Kapps Farm Police Station twice a day, and not being allowed to possess travel documents. Judge Oosthuizen also warned Gustavo to stay several distances away from both the Eros and Hosea Kutako International Airports. Gustavo is the first of 10 suspects to be released on bail for allegedly receiving bribes worth hundreds of millions from Icelandic fishing giant, Samherji in exchange of dodgy fishing rights from fishing parastatal, Fishcor. He was represented by lawyer Trevor Brockerhoff, while state attorney Cliff Lutibezi and investigators from the Anti-Corruption Commission opposed his week-long bail application last month.
