Five Namibian youths of the #BeFree Movement under the office of the First Lady are in Manchester, United Kingdom, after they were chosen as delegates to represent Namibia at the One Young World Summit. The five delegates were recognised as young Namibians who have shown leadership in social, technological, cultural or entrepreneurial initiatives, particularly in the fields of COVID-19, education, accessibility to SRH and SGBV services, mental health, substance abuse and youth development. The #BeFree Movement says that the delegates of the summit will have the opportunity to promote their initiatives and share them with a worldwide audience. The annual One Young World Summit brings together over 2,000 of the brightest young leaders from every country and sector, with the aim to accelerate social impact, both in-person and digitally. Delegates from about 190 countries are counselled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders such as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle. Hamlet Luboni, Ellen Nanyeni, Hikuru Tjazapi, Tuyeimo Haidula and Andreas Marungu will be attending the summit which kicked off on Monday and ends on Thursday.
