Former DTA president Katuutire Kaura dies

The former president of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA), now Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), Katuutire Kaura has died. Kaura died early this morning after spending a month in a local hospital. His death was confirmed by family member Mbutise Katjivena on the NBC Omurari Radio station. Kaura was the official leader of DTA from 1998 to 2013, during which time he served as a member of parliament. In 2013 he lost the presidency of the party to McHenry Venaani. Subsequently, he resigned from the DTA and joined the Swapo Party in 2017. In 2015, President Hage Geingob appointed Kaura as one of two Special Advisor to the Kunene regional governor. He was 80-year-old.
