Hangana employees demonstrate against wage increment suspension

Employees at Walvis Bay-based Hangana Seafood are demonstrating against management's decision to suspend wage and benefits increments for this year. The employees say this is despite the company signing an agreement to increase wages for three years between December 2018 and December 2021. The spokesperson of the group, Kleophas Kleophas says the company signed the agreement with their former union Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU) but in May 2020, workers voted in a new union to represent them. Despite the change, Kleophas claims that NAFAU went to have an unlawful meeting with Hangana's management to re-renegotiate the agreement. HR manager Bianca Muller received the workers' petition.
