The Councillor for the Ongwediva Constituency in the Oshana Region is concerned about illegal sand-mining in most parts of northern Namibia. The excavating of gravel and sand for road construction and brick-making in that part of the country does not only damage the environment but leaves large unsightly open pits which pose danger to humans and animals.
