Namibia has not yet detected the Omicron sub-variant known as BA.2, but the health system remains on alert. This follows the detection of the sub-variant in more than 50 countries, including neighbouring South Africa, where it has accounted 23% of the 450 samples taken since January. Earlier, we spoke to the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula on the country's preparedness to deal with any variant outbreak.
