The Namibian Public Workers Union (NAPWU) has given the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) seven days to implement the outcome of the wage negotiations threatening an industrial action should the corporation fail to do so. In its response, the national broadcaster's Chief Human Resources Officer Vezenga Kauraisa said, the outcome has been referred to the board of directors for deliberations, and that such a referral is the standing process as wage negotiation outcome are normally pending board approval. Kauraisa said management has no authority to unilaterally agree on such negotiations outside the board directive. He said with the late finalisation of the wage negotiations close to the beginning of the festive season in December last year, the board deliberations are only expected to take place upon their availability following the end of the festive season. A letter to this effect he said has been sent to the office of the General Secretary of NAPWU this week explaining the process up to now. The HR's Chief re-iterate that management has been all along with the employees through thick and thin and is requesting staff members to exercise patience until the logical conclusion of the process is reached.
