A man who was assaulted by security officials for allegedly parking his taxi at a wrong parking bay at the Katutura State Hospital is suing the security company for N$300 000. The video, in which VICMAC security guards assault Nestory Shatjohamba, went viral on social media in June. Lawyer Norman Tjombe in court papers says the plaintiff was kicked, hit with close fists and whipped all over his body with a metal rod or bar known as a Sjambok. The activities carried out by the employees of the security company were unlawful and wrong he says. Tjombe argues that his client suffered psychological trauma and discomfort, and severe injuries including lacerations and bruises. His client also felt humiliated and degraded.
