The newly opened Standard Bank branch in the Kavango East Region's Divundu in was allegedly robbed of cash in the early hours of Monday. The Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu confirmed the robbery on Monday. Kanyetu said information regarding the robbery is still sketchy, as officials from the bank and investigators are still trying to establish how much money was looted from the bank. He said the public would be updated on the situation, once he is briefed by members on the ground, and once the case is officially registered. The branch was opened earlier this month.
