President Geingob extends condolences to Katjavivi family

President Hage Geingob has extended condolences to the Speaker of the National Assembly Professor Peter Katjavivi and family over the death of his wife, Jane Katjavivi. Katjavivi died this morning while on a flight en route to Windhoek with her husband. President Geingob remembers the late Jane Katjavivi as a dependable family friend and the wife of his dear comrade, the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Geingob, in a media statement, lauded Madam Katjavivi for helping out at the Swapo Party Office in London where she became a steadfast supporter of freedom fighters during the liberation struggle. Therefore, she became one of the freedom fighters, Geingob recalls in advancing the fight for independence. Jane, an accomplished author and editor, was also instrumental in building Namibian literature and assisted many cadres with editing manuscripts and documents after independence. The President says Namibians will cherish the outstanding role she played in the development of language and the preservation of the country's literature. Dr, Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos consoled the Katjavivi family on behalf of the Namibian people and government.
