Delano Muller, the reigning Namibian Junior Sportsman, recently organised an outreach programme for young people that took place in several towns of the country. He offered motivational seminars and also donated training equipment to students. With the first stage of his outreach programme behind him, Muller’s intention was to grow the sport of kickboxing in Namibia, making it more accessible to everyone and to empower women in sport, especially in rural areas. The young star also wants to help improve the living standards of young people. He has realised that there are many young sport enthusiasts in the country that have the ability and dedication but cannot afford to do the sport, due to finances and an overall lack of facilities. With his prize money from last year’s Namibia Annual Sport Awards, Muller donated training equipment to young students, and held motivational seminars and training camps in self-defence and kickboxing in Tsumeb, Ondangwa, Ongwediva, Oshakati, Fransfontein. "When we went down to the north, i saw that the young people over there need plenty of things like proper equipment and sportswear. I am trying to help were I can and hope to be a light in somebody’s life in helping this way" he said. Next on the calendar for Muller is an initiative called: “Let’s make sport accessible to everyone, together”, which will kick off in February. This drive mainly serves to call on everyone to donate new or old sports equipment, accessories, trophies, shoes and clothing, which will be utilized to help empower the youth who do not have the means to grow to their full potential in sport.
