 2019 Namibia Volleyball Federation cup finals hosted at the Dome

The 2019 Bank Windhoek Namibia Volleyball Federation Cup's second and final rounds, concluded at the Dome in Swakopmund over the weekend. Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club and Revivals Volleyball Club once again took top honours in the men's and women's finals. This year's tournament saw 24 teams from all Volleyball associations from the northern regions of Namibia as well as those from Zambezi, Kavango East and Kavango West, Khomas, Erongo and Kunene competing. The first round of matches was held in Otjiwarongo at the end of August, with the top eight teams progressing to the second and final round. The men's category saw current title holders Khomas NamPol Volleyball Club, Navy Volleyball Club, NamPower Volleyball Club and Namibia Defence Force Volleyball Club competing for the category title. In the women's category, Revivals Volleyball Club, who are the women's category champions, locked horns with teams such as Khomas NamPol Volleyball Club, Happy Du Volleyball Club and DTS. This year's final round was played under the theme "Namibia Volleyball Against Gender-Based Violence" which saw four local schools joining all players and clubs for a street march that started from the Swakopmund Bank Windhoek Branch to the Dome before the commencement of the games. The much-anticipated men's final turned out to be a walk in the park for the defending champions Khomas Nampol who thrashed Namibian Defence Force Volleyball Club by three sets to zero. As a result, Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club secured their third-year victory as champions of the cup. The Namibian Defence Force Volleyball Club secured the second spot while the third place went to NamPower Volleyball Club who outplayed NAVY Volleyball Club from Erongo Region in the third and fourth place play offs, winning by three sets. Revivals Volleyball Club once again managed to come back from a one set down to return to their position as champions in the female category after they battled it out against the Khomas Nampol Volleyball Club, winning three sets to two. With DTS Volleyball Club defeating their counterparts Happydu Volleyball Club, 3-2, claimed the third spot of the championship. The president of the NVF, Hillary Imbuwa highlighted the need for the volleyball family to join the fight against gender-based violence in societies, while using the game of volleyball as a tool. ”We at the Volleyball Federation is concern with the gender base violence against women and children, and this is the reason why during the Bank Windhoek NVF cup we decided to add a message on gender base violence. This is the reason why the volleyball family decided to add our voice, we are concerned and it affect us as Volleyballers. We as Volleyballers, we need to promote fair play and need to promote a sport that is violence free” Imbuwa said. The winning teams will be competing at the annual Zone VI Club Championships, scheduled to take place in Lilongwe, Malawi in December
