African Stars joined Civics, Black Africa and UNAM in the Debmarine Semis

By: Chester Uamunika Namibian Premier League newly crowned Champions African Stars beat Eleven Arrows on Penalties after a goalless draw to book their spot in the last four of the Debmarine Namibia Cup. African Stars who lost away to Eleven Arrows in the first round of the league encounter started the game with intent. Their leading goal scorer Panduleni Nekudi missed a sitter after Aubrey Amseb was denied by the frame of the goal in the first half of the game. Eleven Arrows did not create much in the first half but their best chance of the match fell to Willem Penihas who was denied by Ratanda Mbazuvara in African Stars goal. Petrus Sakaria also wasted a big opportunity in front goal as his effort went over the bar. African Stars left fullback Ivan Kamberipa also saw his effort come off the upright and as the result the game ended goalless. So, the game had to be decided on penalties. Both goalkeepers were the heroes of their respective teams as each save two penalties to take the game to sudden death spot kicks. It was at the 8th penalty were the game was decided, first it was Arrows captain Paulus Mwaikange who’s spot kick was saved by Mbazuvara. Than it was Brave Warriors Captain Ronald Ketjiere who took the decisive penalty and he made no mistake. African Stars won 5 -4 on Penalty. African Stars Coach Bobby Samaria says it is their aim to win a double this season “We have to forget about the league that is the past now we have to focus on this competition so we need to work hard if we want to win it.” Said Samaria Eleven Arrows Coach Lucky Shipanga says African Stars were lucky “We planned for Penalties I was one hundred percent sure we will win but that kick that head the post and in after bouncing against the goalkeeper showed they were lucky.” African Stars will take on Civics in the semifinals while Black Africa book a date with UNAM.
