Basson-Namundjebo proud of NC work

Normalization Committee Chairperson Hilda Basson-Namundjebo is proud of the work the committee has done at the Namibia Football Association - despite the ongoing squabbles in the sport code. Basson Namundjebo said this in an exclusive interview with NBC Sport. Hilda Basson-Namundjebo was appointed as the Chairperson of the NFA Normalization Committee by the world football governing body FIFA to normalize football in Namibia. The Committee led by Namundjebo consisted of her and four other members, including Franco Cosmos, the acting NFA Secretary-General. According to Basson Namudjebo, the committee did a lot of work on the administrative part to help the organization be in a better position today. "It is because of us that the organization is debt-free. We were complying what was asked from us by the mother body so that FIFA can give the money that helps us. NFA is better Organization today than it was" she said. Some members of the Football fraternity nonetheless believed that the Normalization Committee was unsuccessful in their duties because Football did not kick off after all. According to Basson-Namundjebo however, the NC fulfilled the FIFA mandate of running the association's administrative division, putting up regional leadership and hosting the congress that will elect new leadership. If placed in the same position, her decision on the promotion and relegation matter would also remain. "That was the best decision ever, because there was no first division and second division league games played. What other best decision is there. NPL should comply" she added. Sports Commission Chief Administrator Freddy Mwiya said the commission is satisfied with the task carried out by the committee. Basson Namundjebo ended the interview by indicating that she does not have any plans of coming back to Football any time soon.
