BOXING BOARD TO ADVISE ON INDONGO – TOBIAS CONTRACT

The former unified junior welterweight champion, Julius Indongo, and his former promoter, Nestor Tobias, have both written to the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board requesting assistance with their contractual issue. A couple of months ago, Julius Indongo and his former promoter Nestor Tobias failed to part on good terms and have now both taken the legal route to sort out their issues. NBC Sport reported last week, that Tobias, through his lawyer Sisa Namandje, wrote a letter to Katjaerua Legal Practitioners - representing Julius Indongo – demanding that the former triple world champion should avail himself as contracted by Tobias. The letter also stated that if Indongo would not tender performance on or before the 5th of February 2018, Tobias’ lawyers would proceed by giving notice to claim compensation in the amount of N$3.6 million. In a slight turn of events, Indongo - who is currently signed with Lou DiBella promotions in the US - has now written to the Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board requesting for information that may assist him. Tobias has also written to the same board wanting clarity. The Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board’s legal adviser, Ronald Kurtz, who confirmed receiving letters from both legal teams could not divulge more information, as – according to him – the board will only meet in this regard next week. While nothing has been confirmed, it looks like Tobias has not yet enabled compensation claim proceedings as the concerned parties in the conflict await the response of the boxing board.
