Brave Warriors eliminated from CHAN tournament

The Brave Warriors were eliminated from the CHAN tournament in Cameroon after losing 1-0 to Tanzania in their second match of the competition on Saturday. The match against Tanzania in Limbe would have had to be a must-win one for the Brave Warriors to maintain their presence in the tournament after losing their opening match by 3-nil to Guinea. Despite fielding a better starting line-up and mastering passes together in a 4-4-1-1 formation, the goals alluded the Brave Warriors once again on the day. The second half saw the Brave Warriors giving Tanzania a goal on a silver platter as the defenders were nowhere to back up 22-year-old Kamaijanda Ndisiro who made an impressive debut with some telling saves in the match. Ultimately, however, inexperience worked against him which resulted in Farid Musa scoring for the opponents. Coach Bobby Samaria brought in young striker Isaskar Gurirab in the place of towering Elmo Kambindu. The encounter ended 1-nil for Tanzania, who kept their hopes of a place in the knockout stages alive with the first victory in the ongoing competition. With three points, Tanzania are now trailing Group D leaders Guinea and second place Zambia by one point with a chance to reach the knock-out stage. With the defeat, Namibia have been eliminated from the African Nations Championship and will kiss the tournament goodbye after playing Zambia in Wednesday's final group D encounter before flying back home.
