The Court of Arbitration for Sports has decided on a sole arbitrator to hear the case of former Namibia Football Association President Frans Mbidi against the NFA Normalization Committee. Former NFA President Frans Mbidi has resorted to asking the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Switzerland for assistance in a matter in which he is seeking justice. Mbidi was not allowed by the NFA Normalization Committee to run as a presidential candidate in the elective Congress in February this year. In their response to the case, CAS in a letter this week stated that the case will be heard by a sole arbitrator named Prof. Dr. Ulrich Haas, a law professor based in Zurich, Switzerland. The letter also stated that Mbidi has paid his advance fee. In yet another letter seen by NBC, CAS advised Mbidi and his lawyers that the respondents have not paid their share of the advance of cost and that thus, as appellant he should pay the entire advance of costs in order to cover the arbitration costs in the matter. The additional payment is 10-thousand Swiss francs which translates to 182 000 Namibian dollars and should be paid before the 8th of June as in the absence of that the matter will be deemed withdrawn. The date of the case hearing will only be communicated to the involved parties after the arbitrator satisfied himself with the relevant submissions.
