Coastal athletes stay focused despite lock down

As many outdoor sport activities have come to a standstill and all gyms and sport clubs are closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, athletes at the coast still keep themselves busy during these days, doing what they love most. Most of the athletes still keep fit at home, and have created make-shift gyms in their houses or backyards. NBC sport has been keeping track of some athletes to find out what they are doing to keep fit in these times. “Since all sports activities stopped we should try to keep ourselves healthy, fit and during this time to try to keep a healthy lifestyle and not eat unhealthy. Keep your body healthy and keep on training. If you are not training, try to take up courses during this lock down” kick boxer Delano Muller said. Kick boxer Lesley Hoaeb said “We have a difficult time, so I wish everybody to stay home. Try to keep busy, try to jump ropes, try to do activities and stay fit”. “I think it’s important to keep routine, because it’s not holiday. As soon as the lock down is over and you have to go back to your normal activities all of it is going to be confused and out of routine. It’s also for sanity, if you usually get up at seven, get up at seven still try to continue doing your normal activities as far as possible “said Angelique Connoway from Biokinetic Rehabilitation Centre. It has been stressed that athletes should best train in isolation as opposed to groups as a preventive measure to guard against the virus.
