The Namibia Motor Sport Federation, in conjunction with the Windhoek Motor Club, recognised top performers for their hard work throughout the 2019 season at a combined awards ceremony held in Windhoek on Saturday. Coastal drivers and their navigators, as well as bike riders, emerged as some of the big winners. It was an action-packed year in both the car and bike racing categories in 2019, and drivers, navigators and riders were awarded for their hard work. At the recent award show, drivers once again stood out and walked away with some of the big winnings of the night. Allan Martin, the 2019 Total Tara winner, proudly received four awards. Martin was awarded for his first place in circuit racing Class B; first place for circuit racing in the Overall Class; second for rally overall driver, and first place for rally in the S4 Class. Another successful award recipient on the night was Zachary Martin. Martin won a second place award in circuit racing Class B, a second place award in drag racing Class C cars, and a second place award for rally Class S3. Pieter Greeff took a third place award for ending third in the rally overall driver category, and a first place award for winning the rally S1 Class, while Tinus Malan was awarded a third place award for being a Rally S4 Class navigator. Jan Everton won a second place award for driving in the S2 Class, while the third spot award went to Tinus Malan in the same class. Fanie Botes became a recipient of a first place award for navigator in the rally S2 Class. On the Oval racing side of things, Frank Borruso won a first place award for Dirt Ovals, 4 Cylinders -16 Valves, while Richard Owen also won a first place award in Dirt Ovals 6 8 Cylinders. Vernon Knowles took a third place award in the same Class. The bike riders from the coast were also given a chance to brag. In motorcross, Stephan Maischatz won a second place award in the MX 2 Class, Geena Sadlowski walked away with a second place award in the MX 125 Class, Mark Louwings took first place in the MX Lites Class, while all three awards won in the MX 50 Class, went to coastal riders. With a great 2019 racing calendar behind all drivers, navigators and riders, the 2020 racing season promises great developments as well. Rally action will kick off in February with the Gobabis rally.
