Cosafa Suspends NFA Secretary General Barry Rukoro

On Saturday, COSAFA suspended NFA Secretary-General Barry Rukoro, for violent conduct - after he allegedly assaulted its President, Philip Chiyangwa, in South Africa last month. In a letter, COSAFA states that Rukoro's suspension will run for a period of 90 days, pending finalisation of the investigation. Rukoro has also been urged to submit his response to the Secretary-General of COSAFA, in writing, on or before the 30th April 2018 to explain reasons as to why his case may not be referred to COSAFA's Disciplinary Board, for appropriate action. At home, Rukoro has not been spared. His boss Frans Mbidi announced that his contract will not be extended after it lapses, today - the 31st of March. It remains to be seen whether Rukoro, who has insisted that only the NFA Executive Committee may remove him from power, will be reporting for work on Tuesday, after the Easter weekend. The NFA Congress where new office bearers will be elected is slated for September this year.
