DSN hosts annual award ceremony in Windhoek

Windhoek-Disability Sport Namibia awarded its athletes and coaches for the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year. The annual Disability Sport Namibia Awards took place at the Safari Court Hotel in Windhoek under the theme “I am possible on Saturday. Speaking at the event, Namibia's Paralympic Committee President Johannes Litwai called on corporate companies to follow Nampower and MVA in investing more in athletes with disability, so that they can bring medals home to the land of the brave. “Our organisation depends on you to do its best in developing future athletes that will bring medals in the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020” Litwai said. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Emma Kantema- Gaomas said the government will continue to support the pledge of disabled sport personalities. According to her, their efforts have already been visible and had a positive impact. "The Namibian Government have attached sport expert from Cuba to DSN to develop sport and one knows by now, how our athletes perform. We are bringing in medals through this project” Kantema- Gaomas said. All nominees got a trophy, certificate and hard cash of one thousand Namibia Dollars. Overall, the event was considered a great success.
