The senior national Cricket team - the Eagles said the postponement of the ICC men's T20 World Cup, which was set for October in Australia, is sad news. After qualifying for the T20 World Cup in 2019, Eagles players had been hard at work preparing for the event. When the world was however hit by the Coronavirus, the majority of sporting events were either cancelled of postponed. The T20 Cricket World Cup was not spared and last week the International Cricket Council announced that, the T20 World Cup would have to be postponed until next year. NBC sport caught up with some of the Eagles players to get their views on the postponement. Eagles captain Gerhard Erasmus said that they were”obviously very disappointed." He added: "We were looking forward to play in the World Cup. We have been training hard for it. Coming up next, we have got some local Cricket; we also have a T10 tournament hosted by one of the clubs at WHS. And overall, we just have to do with what we can. We are going to continue training hard at our nets” “It's actually not the greatest news, because it's really hard to get such negative news but what can we all do? At least we hope to get some games again in December, like the ODI games. I think we are still going to be in training for that. The main aim was the world cup but it's postponed we can't change anything" Right arm medium-fast bowler Ben Shilongo added. Another bowler Nicol Loftie-eaten said “It is a big disappointment, because we have been working so hard for the world cup this whole year, but as a player I think we should just have to stay positive." For now, the players will have to make do with some domestic Cricket and hope that another December tournament set to take place in Dubai will still go ahead.
