Geingob congratulates Jonas and Johannes on Commonwealth Gold

Windhoek- On Monday, President Hage Geingob congratulated boxer Jonas Junias Jonas and marathon runner Helalia Johannes on their outstanding achievements at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Cost, Australia. The two collected a gold medal each. Through a media release, the President also singled out Johannes' feat for being the first Namibian woman athlete to bring home gold from the Games. Geingob further encouraged the two to try and repeat their performance at the 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo, Japan. The Head of State was also pleased by the country's overall position of 19th out of 43 participating countries in the world as well its 6th position on the table of African competing countries. He concluded that with hard work, organisation and discipline, Namibian sports can reach great heights. *In news just in, a heroes welcome awaits Team Namibia from the Games at the Hosea Kutako International Airports on Wednesday morning at 11h00.
