Former unified junior welterweight titleholder Julius Indongo, who was preparing for a fight against 2016 Olympic gold medalist Daniyar Yelussinov, is still in the United States of America. Their fight was supposed to take place on the 17th of this month but has been postponed due to the spread of Covid-19. Namibia’s Julius Indongo who is the former unified world champion was preparing a comeback bout in the U.S to fight Daniyar Yelussinov from Kazakhstan before the lockdown started. The fight was scheduled for the 17th of April, but had to be postponed due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus, which has brought all other sports events to a standstill worldwide too. According to Indongo’s trainer - Imms Moses, the boxer is well and is keeping fit that side. "We speak every day. He is keeping safe, staying inside and he goes to the gym only him and the coach. They are obeying to the rules as it was instructed by the State of Alabama, that side the measurements are different from here because their shops and everything is still open, they are allowed to go to the gym only him and the trainer" Moses said. No new dates have been announced for the fight, but boxing promoters around the globe are working on possibilities of bringing back the events while practicing prevention measures as explained by Moses. "Promoters are working hard to bring back events behind closed doors, without spectators, but it will depend on the commissioner whether it will be allowed to do so. It has to be safe for all involved the camera operators, officials, coaches. All these people have to contact the test first before allowing them to enter the arena, before boxing resume" he added. If everything goes back to normal, there hopefully will be another chance for Indongo to prove himself against the best, as he recorded only one victory in his three last fights.
