It’s a group that we can handle - Jacobs

Brave Warriors assistant coach Woody Jacobs said they expected to face Zambia again, after the draw for the 2020 African Nations Championship (Chan) tournament was made Tuesday night. The draw for the sixth edition of the African Nations Championship tournament which took place In Yaounde, Cameroon yesterday paired Namibia against Guinea, Tanzania and neighbours Zambia. The Brave Warriors started with their training last week, in an attempt to juggle two competitions in the next two months, with the AFCON qualifier and CHAN tournament taking place during March and April respectively. Assistant Coach of the Brave Warriors Woody Jacobs believes that the players are putting in hard work and that their physical condition is good, so they just need to work on getting them match-fit. “I believe that the better the opponent the better you should be. In order to be the best you need to beat the best so that will be our approach, we will take it one game at a time" Jacob said. As for the draw, Jacobs said he is positive about Namibia's chances. “Looking at the tournament and the opponents we got, we know Zambia, we know a little bit about them. Our players are playing there and we have played them a lot of times. We know what to expect from them. The other two Tanzania and Guinea are a bit of an unknown quantity. We played Guinea in the AFCON qualifiers and they beat us two - zero in Conakry” he said. As part of their preparations, the team will be playing friendly matches in Oshakati on the 29th of February, in Otavi on the 7th of March and in Walvis Bay on the14th March against regional teams. The African Nations Championship tournament will take place from April 4th to the 25th in Cameroon.
