Six Jiu-Jitsu students from Namibia will be competing in the 2020 Abu Dhabi Africa Continental Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championships, that will be held in Cape Town, South Africa this coming weekend. The Abu Dhabi Africa Continental Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship is part of the AJP World Ranking and Abu Dhabi Wold Professional Jiu-Jitsu Qualifying series, that will be held from the 29th of February to the 1st of March. It is considered to be an important competition for all students, as fighters accumulate championship points. To score points, students must compete in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and also compete in one of the following competitions: The Abu Dhabi Grand Slams Tour, the Continental Pro Championships, National Pro Championships and the International Pro Championships. The following students will represent Namibia: Stefan Zerbe, Giano Alcock, Raymundo Bowe, Lesley !Hoaeb, Delano Mueller and Yusuf Abader. It will be a special occasion for Delano Muller, who will be fighting in the Blue Belt adult division this year. It is expected to be a very tough outing for the 15-year-old. Muller is currently ranked number one in the world in his division, and never lost in any Jiu - Jitsu competition to date. “I am looking forward and well prepared. Can't wait for the competition to start. It is a new division, previously competed in the under 15 level , now that I am turning 16, I will be fighting in the adult division and its new challenge” Muller said. Team manager Rudy Bowe said that the students are well prepared and are expected to do well at the championships. “The students are very much ready and are looking forward to this tournament. They will bring back gold medals all of them. They are well prepared, just a few hiccups to sort out and then it is all sails sailing to Cape Town” Bowe said. The eight member Namibian team left for Cape Town on Thursday.
