Brave Warriors Coach Ricardo Mannetti has urged the youth to be responsible when making choices affecting their social and professional lives. Manneti said this during the just-ended annual Dr. Bernhard Haufiku tournament which took place at Onheleiwa village over the weekend. In his motivational speech, he said that responsible choices should be at the forefront of any decision in order to prevent unpleasant consequences that can emanate from a bad decision. Manetti further said that football brought people together this weekend, but the main aim is not only football. The main aim is to have a healthy youngster, a healthy sister, a healthy brother. "So, coming back to those decisions again, make the right decisions and do not follow in the wrong path or wrong friends or fall into peer pressure patterns", he explained. The coach made sure everyone at the event was aware that current decisions can have dire consequences in future, while urging athletes to stay away from destructive behaviour. He also encouraged the youth to do away with shunning advice coming from their parents and coaches, citing that they have their best interests at heart as successful athletes listen more. "The youth of Onheleiwa, the youth of Namibia, the youth of the world, the main important decisions that you have to take as a young man, as a young woman, are during your teenage years, in your twenties, i think it's a little unfair because whatever decisions you take during that period, you as an adult will have to pay for those decisions."Mannetti said. The annual sport tournament is aimed at uplifting rural sports and provides opportunities to young netball and football athletes to participate in a competitive event every year.
