MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy to host Independence Boxing Bonanza

The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Fitness Academy will contribute to Namibia's 28th Independence celebration with a boxing bonanza that will be known as the Legacy Fight. It is held in honour of Namibia's post-independence presidents and will take place on the 20th of March in Windhoek at Ramatex. At a press conference organised by the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Fitness Academy on Wednesday, it was announced that three WBO Africa titles will be on the cards, with the main bout involving Walter Kautondokwa, who will defend his title against Billy Giddy from Argentina. Jeremiah Nakathila and Mike Shonena are set to appear in the two main supporting bouts. Officiating at the press conference was the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Stanley Simataa, who wished the boxers luck in their upcoming fights and applauded the Academy for the work they put into the promotion of boxing, thus putting Namibia on the map. “We should go and support the fight that is honouring our former presidents and the current president for leading this country peacefully and acknowledging that sport has the potential to change the lives of people and can make them rich. With the right investments boxing can grow in this country” said Simataa. According to promoter Nestor Tobias, there's plenty of motivation behind Kautondokwa's title bout. “The reason why Kautondokwa is fighting an Argentinian opponent is to improve his rankings in order for him to challenge for international title, the title will remain with Kautondokwa regardless of the outcome of the fight the main aim is to improve his rankings and in order for him to do that he has to fight an opponent from outside the continent with countries that are highly ranked” explained Tobias. On his part Kautondokwa thanked everyone that has been supporting him. “I would like to thank God for his blessings and want to promise everyone that I'm going to fight hard and beat my opponent” he said. Ramatex will host the bonanza that will take place on the 20th of March with 14 undercards on the night.
