Delano Muller, three time Namibian Junior Sportsman of the year, recently donated food parcels and stationary to communities in Fransfontein and Khorixas. After auctioning off his gloves as well as photos' of his World championship win at the Battle of Atlanta on Facebook, Delano Muller used the money to assist destitute communities in Fransfontein and Khorixas. He said that the food parcels were a practical way to assist people who are faced by hardships during Covid-19 in these communities. The beneficiaries of Muller's food parcels were selceted with the assistance of the local Namibian Red Cross Society. Those who benefited were People Living With Disabilities, child-headed households, those above sixty years of age, persons without identification documents, the homeless, and unemployed individuals. Local activist McKay Oswald Losper and two local volunteers of the Namibian Red Cross Society assisted with the handing over of the food parcels in Khorixas as well as in Fransfontein. Inside the food parcels a message of hope from Muller towards the beneficiaries was also included, as well as some stationary. Two months ago, the 16-year-old handed over clothes, bags, shoes, stationary and water containers to the Fransfontein settlement already as part of his initiative 'making sports accessible to everyone together.' The initiative aims to call on Namibians to donate new and old sports equipment, accessories, trophies, clothes and shoes which will be utilised to help empower the youth who do not have means to realise their potential in sport. "I would like to thank Delano Muller and his organisation, making sports accessible. During COVID-19 we really had challenges in Khorixas in terms of food security and any donation is a help to a lot of disadvantaged families. We really thank thiz 16- year old who poured out hiz heart to a needy community" Losper said. Losper emphasised that he was thrilled by the gesture and called on more public/private partnerships to deal with the issue of food shortage and hunger especially in rural and informal areas. Last year Muller used his prize money of N$50 000 to donate equipment to youngsters and hosted motivational seminars and training camps in self-defence and kickboxing at Fransfontein, Ondangwa, Tsumeb, Ongwediva and Oshakati.
