Nakathila and Kakololo missed out on world title chances

Two Namibian boxers, Jeremiah Nakathila and Natty Kakololo, missed out on their respective chances to fight for world boxing titles after losing their springboard bouts to global stardom on foreign territory over yhe weekend. Jeremiah Nakathila took on American boxer Shakur Stevenson in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday. Despite being defeated via a unanimous decision Nakathila made a big statement on the night by taking the high profile WBO interim super feather title to the full distance. The Namibian earned respect for the way he responded after going down as a result of wrong footing. The victory presented Stevenson with a chance to fight Jamel Herring for a world title in August this year. In Kiev, Ukraine another Namibian boxer, Natty Kakololo, aquainted himself with the task at hand against the undefeated Ukrainian boxer Oleg Malinovsky despite losing on points. Kakololo produced the best display of his career by giving his opponent a torrid time through the 12 rounder bout. Kalololo was unhappy with the judges' scorecard as he felt robbed. A victory in the WBO intercontinental bout could have been a yardstick to a world title. There were no immediate announcements or possible rematch opportunities or what is next on the roster for the two Namibian boxers going forward.
