Names of NFA normalisation committee members leaked

Information has been leaked that the names of Sebastian Kamungu, Vivienne Katjiuongua and Gaby Ahrens are on FIFA's candidates list for the normalisation committee that will act as an electoral committee. In a letter sent to the Namibia Football Association by FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, FIFA informed NFA about their decision to appoint the normalisation committee with the mandate to run NFA's daily affairs; to ensure that members of the NFA whose executive committees are out of mandate are replaced, and to organise and conduct relevant and just elections. The decision follows a recent visit by a Fifa delegation to Namibia during which it observed that 'there are two factions within the NFA that are irreconcilable and that this situation is adversely affecting football as a whole'. The normalisation committee will be drawn up by Fifa in consultation with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and relevant Namibian stakeholders. All members of the normalisation committee must pass an eligibility check to be carried out by the Fifa review committee, while Fifa reserves the right to revoke the mandate of the members of the normalisation committee, and to appoint further members at any time. Kamungu, a business man, is NFA's former Secretary General after independence and also served as former Executive Producer of the NBC Sports desk. Katjiuongua, a lawyer by profession, is the former chairperson of the National Sports Commission as well as a former president of Netball Namibia. She was also a National player in her heyday. Ahrens is the current athletes' representative on the NNOC, former Olympic Clay shooter and was recently appointed on the committee of the envisaged first ever Sports Expo. The three - if they pass FIFA's eligibility check- will act as an electoral committee and none of its members will be eligible for any of the positions in the elections. When contacted for comment, the rumoured committee members did not divulge any information regarding their alleged appointment. The committee will perform its functions until it has fulfilled all of its tasks, but no later than 31 May 2019. A FIFA delegation is expected in the country on the 2nd of February.
