Namibia drop in world ranking despite victory over Portugal

Windhoek-The Senior National Rugby side ended their outgoing tour on a high after beating Portugal 29- 23, however, dropping in World Rankings. The Namibian National team clinched their first win in their outgoing tour in a wet and windy Coimbra, a riverfront city in central Portugal. The Boys in blue suffered previous defeats to 19th Ranked Russia losing 47-20 and a week late against Spain who is ranked 20th, 34-13. In the game against Portugal,both teams opened the game with an early try, with Namibia’s try scorer being, Flanker Thomasau Forbes. Namibian 21-year-old hooker Obert Nortje went over for Namibia’s second converted try, while Portugal also ran in their second before the halftime hooter sounded for a 17-all score line. The second half saw Center JC Greyling and wing Johann Tromp put the final nail in the coven each scoring a try. Portugal could only manage to add two more penalties for a six-point deficit, final score Portugal 23, Namibia 29. Even though the tour ended with the team getting a win in the bag, things got worse for Namibia dropping one spot on World Rugby Rankings to 23. The Namibians will be heading back to the drawing boar in preparations for the 2019 season.
