Namibian Boxing Control Board apologies to Boxing fans for delay

Windhoek-The Namibian Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board has issued a public apology for the delay that marred the main bout between Walter Kautondokwa and his Argentinian challenger Billi Godoy on Tuesday night. The main fight was delayed for almost an hour, because of money issues between the two camps. It is also believed that the communication barrier with the Argentinian camp made things more difficult. The event which was screened live on NBC saw the main fight between Walter Kautondokwa and Billi Godoy delayed, and this did not go well with viewers who called to find out, whether the fight would be on or not. The problem was eventually solved after the Namibian Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board gave assurance that the money will be available in US dollars. Board Chairman Ellison Hijarunguru explained the cause of the delay in detail. “The money for the Argentinian was paid in Namibia currency with understanding that the money will be converted into US Dollars on Wednesday, but the Argentinian had difficulty with that because Tuesday is Public holiday. We had to come in to convince the Argentinian that the money is there and the delay was caused by the communication barrier. But as I am talking to you I must say all the camp are happy, they got their money” Hijarunguru said. However, Hijarunguru issued a public apology on behalf of the Board to all for the inconvenience caused by the delay. According to Hiarunguru the issue has now been put to bed.
