10-year-old Namibian tennis player Israel Dowie emerged victoriously at the Cape Town Tennis Mini 2 Tournament for Boys u/12 in Welgemoed, Cape Town this past weekend. In the second round, Dowie beat first seed Levi Marks by 7-5, 7-5. Marks had previously won the Growthpoint Cape Town Tennis Super 8 Tournament in December 2020. Unseeded Dowie played the finals against the second-seeded Nicolas Lourens and won 7-6, 2-6 and 10-7 to take Gold. This is the second tournament he won in Cape Town this year. Dowie also came out top in the Cape town Mini Tennis 1 Tournament in Cape Town earlier this month. Currently, he is on a nine-match winning streak that began on 21 December 2020. Another 10-year old Namibian player, Florian Seelenbinder, came 4th and 11th respectively in the Cape Town Mini Tennis 1 and 2 Tournaments.
