By: Martin Ukarerani The Namibian team scooped seven gold medals, two silver and one bronze at the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Stadium in Berlin, Germany, where some of the world's top competitors gathered for the fifth edition of the Grand Prix. Elias Ndimulunde and Johannes Nambala were the performers that stood out, winning a pair of gold medals each. Ndimulunde won the men's T46 100m in 11,19 seconds, and the 400m in 50,49 seconds. The T46 disability sport classification is for track athletes without an arm. As expected, Nambala sprinted to the T13 men's title in 10,99 seconds and completed his double with a victory in the 400m, which he ran in 50,48 seconds. Ananias Shikongo also scooped gold in the T11 400metre category, but missed out on achieving another gold medal in the 100m race but however did manage to win a silver medal instead. Golden Girl' Johanna Benson also got in on the double act, winning gold in the women's T37 100m division in a season's best 14,16 seconds, and bronze in the long jump with a 3,70m leap. She finished fifth in the 400m in one minute and 1,30 seconds. T11 sprint sensation Lahjia Ishitile continued her steady progress as she won gold and silver medals in the 400m and 100m respectively. The Namibia Paralympics Committee is very happy with the athletes' performance at the Grand Prix, as it provided a good round of preparation for the Rio Olympics in Brazil.
