Windhoek-The National Women's Senior Indoor Hockey team is preparing for the Annual Indoor test series between Namibia and South Africa in Durban. The head coach of the national Women's Indoor Hockey team, Erwin Handura, has announced their upcoming trip to South Africa for a 5-match test series at Danville Girls High School in Durban. The Namibian women's team, which is ranked 11th in the World and first in Africa, is excited to participate in the Indoor Test Series with seven out of twelve players, who already participated in the Hockey World Cup earlier this year in Germany. It will be a massive event for both teams as it's the first indoor hockey extravaganza that Namibia has played in since the Indoor Hockey World Cup. “The series are very important. We started this series team in 2015 and it actually helped us to qualify for the World Cup. The World cup was this year in February, they are very important, because we know every year we play ten International games” Handura said. Goal keeper Petro Stoffberg also explained how happy she is to be part of the squad. “We want to go and win the test series, in order to do that we have to win three games out of the five. However we are planning to win all of them. But it is going to be difficult, because it is not the original team that we had previously beat. So it is going to be a more youngster team and more challenging, We are planning on giving the youngsters experience in order for us to qualify in the next World cup” Stoffberg said. The team's journey is sponsored by Air Namibia who offered them a return ticket.
