National Youth Games preparations in full swing

The Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission, Freddy Mwiya, said the preparations for the upcoming National Youth Games are going well. The games are set to place from 29th of April to the 02 May at Swakopmund. The National Youth Games were launched in 2018, with Windhoek playing host initially. Last year, however, the Games were postponed for Namibia to be in sync with the Region 5 Games that are taking place every second year. The second edition of the Youth Games will see teams and athletes competing in 14 codes. Mwiya said preparations are running smoothly and that they are just waiting for the Games to kick off. “Definitely we are ready. I'm very happy that at regional levels work had been done and last month on the 28th all the regions submitted entries by numbers and by 19th March now they have to submit entry by names” Mwiya said Mwiya explained that they have already visited the region and also had meetings with the Governor's office. “I visited the coast and I send a team for the second time to lobby for political muscles. I was very fortunate that at least the regional council received my team very well” Mwiya added. At the end of the Games, a team will be selected to represent Namibia at the Region 5 Games that will take place in December in Lesotho.
