Nedbank Challenge Launch

The 34th Nedbank Cycle Challenge was launched in Windhoek on Wednesday . Mountain Bike, Road Challenge and Kidz Challenge are among several categories that are expected to feature at the event next month. Since its inception in November 1986, the Nedbank Cycle Challenge has become the largest participatory cycling event on the Namibian calendar, with over 1000 cyclists expected to take part in the iconic race this year. Speaking at the Nedbank launch today, Nedbank's Marketing Communication head Gernot de Klerk expressed his gratitude over the support and the growing number of cyclists every year. “It's a fantastic race when it does happen once a year when we shut down the city center of Windhoek. We have to express our gratitude from the Nedbank perspective to the city of Windhoek and the Windhoek police for helping us in ensuring the safety of cyclist” de Klerk said. The 2019 Nedbank Cycling challenge will comprise of three events for the 20, 60, and elite 100-kilometre Road Challenge that will start in front of the Nedbank Branch on Independence Avenue on the 10th of February. Also present at the launch was the bank's Chief Financial Officer JG van Graan who was proud of Nedbank's initiative in keeping the nation fit while having fun. “The Nedbank Cyclist challenge has proven its staying power for over three decades and with its 34thedition this year it has truly earn position as the greatest ride under the sun” Graan said. Entries are open and cyclists can complete online applications at www.today.com.na as well as at Nedbank branches countrywide before the 4th of February.
